Does anyone else feel like we are at a pretty big crossroads in humanity? Climate change and energy, increasing polarisation and the way we communicate with each other, war and peace, racism and equity, the list goes on.
Leadership is more important than ever.
Right now, the world needs leaders with self-awareness, empathy, and courage. We need leaders we can trust and that can be relied upon for a future that has everyoneโs interests at heart, not just their own. We need leaders who can bring people together, and co-create a safe, healthy, sustainable future.
Leadership over history
After 25 years of participating in community change and facilitating leadership programs that challenge the status quo around who can lead, Iโve seen, experienced and read a lot about leadership.
From the traditional great man theory to servant leadership, transactional to transformational, authoritative to participative, leading from the past to leading from the emerging future. Each stage in history calls for its own leadership style.
Over my career, I have supported people to define leadership on their own terms, to break down their assumptions and consider what great leadership looks like for them – and then live it every single day. Throughout this process, Iโve developed a process to activate your leadership journey through the Greater Good Leadership model.
Whatโs the Greater Good Leadership model?
The Greater Good Leadership model is a learning journey for those who want to improve themselves to improve the world around them.
In essence, itโs a journey of two halves, one of reflection and the other of action. This is a circular process as we keep going through these cycles as we learn and grow throughout life.
The first half focuses on self-discovery – understanding your own values, strengths, mindset, emotions, and purpose to uncover your unique leadership story.
The Greater Good Leadership model inspires, motivates, and challenges you to dig deep and understand the values, strengths and motivations that guide your journey.
The first three steps to drive self-discovery are:
- Activate your Greater Good Leadership Journey
- Unlock the Power of Purpose
- Strengthen your Inner Game
The second half of the journey prioritises and equips you for action. To lead you must flex your courage muscles to connect and integrate your learnings into the way you live and lead.
The second three steps help you lead and influence for a better world are:
- Cultivate Courage and Action
- Connect to Amplify
- Lead and Influence for a Better World
Greater Good leaders shape the future, not merely adapt to it. We all have a part to play. How can you, your organisation or your community positively impact the biggest issues at hand?

A new way to learn about leadership
Iโve put this learning journey together into an online course and community called the Greater Good Leadership Collective.
Itโs a journey to give yourself time and space to really know who you are. Itโs about supporting you to be brave enough, bold enough, to live life according to your own values, rather than other peopleโs expectations.
For that to occur, I found, it helps to do this with community – a learning community that supports your self discovery and action taking. So this online course is supported through an online community and a peer buddy program.
We all have the capacity to lead. Greater Good Leadership gives you the confidence and clarity you need to lead a life of meaning, by using your strengths and story to give back to our community. Leadership exists in us all, and itโs an exciting place when thatโs unlocked in you.
