Leading in the Middle

A practical program for middle managers leading up, down and across without burning out in the middle.

You field pressure from above and absorb it so your team doesn’t have to. You translate strategy into something your team can act on, and translate your team’s reality into something leadership will actually hear. Somewhere in the middle of all that translating, it’s easy to lose track of your own leadership – the strategic thinking, energy and growing the people around you.
Leading in the Middle is an 8-module program for managers who already have a team and are ready to lead it with more intention: strategic thinking, energy and support for yourself first, then delegation, coaching, courageous conversations and the kind of culture that keeps good people.

Inside the Program:

Six modules, each built around a real shift in how you lead:

Strategic Leadership — zooming out from operational to strategic thinking. You’ll name the pressure of leading up, down and across at once, and redefine what success looks like from the middle.
Regenerative Energy — sustaining yourself under a heavier, more complex load. You’ll identify your stress triggers and default reactions, and build a recovery ritual that holds up under real pressure.
Finding a Mentor — building your own support system before you need it. A practical, no-awkwardness way to work out what you actually need mentoring on, identify who could help, and make the ask.
Leading High Performing Teams — delegation as development, not offloading. You’ll learn what actually separates a high-performing team from a busy one, and hand over one piece of work this week using a simple skill-and-will framework.
Courageous Conversations — accountability and conflict, handled with care. A structure for the conversations you’ve been deferring, underperformance, conflict between team members, so they happen this week, not next quarter.
Coach and Develop Others — because the measure of your leadership is who you grow. You’ll build a repeatable coaching conversation structure, then close with your own Leadership Signature and a 90-day plan focused on developing your people.

We can customise this program with either in person or online live components such as a launch, interactive workshops to add conversation and discussion, and a reflective final session to support the learning with experienced facilitator, Alicia Curtis.

I’m Alicia Curtis

I’m a leadership facilitator, speaker and change maker who’s spent the last two decades helping purpose driven people become courageous, values-led leaders. With a Masters in Business Leadership, and the co-author of Difference Makers: A Leader’s Guide to Championing Diversity on Boards, and my work has been recognised with several leadership awards along the way.

But the credentials aren’t really the point – what matters is 20+ years spent in the room with people, helping them see their own leadership potential, shift their mindset, and actually step into their leadership. Whether it’s through The Espresso Club community, a leadership program such as the Emerging Leaders in Governance Program, or a conversation about how we create real change, what lights me up is seeing leaders step into their full potential to make a positive impact in their workplaces and communities.
